The First fleet brought the first vines to Australia in 1788. Australia is a success story of modern new world wines. These few vines grew into an industry which has become a significant player on the world stage. Australian has not adopted many wine making techniques from the old world, but has also adapted a uniquely Australian style, which exhibits intense fruitiness, an abundance of flavor, soft texture; molded by exceptional sunshine and warmth. This is not the type of wine to lay down in a cellar. The appeal of such traits is not their longevity, but their drinkability.
