Rhône is one of the most famous wine rivers in the world and one of the largest rivers in Europe. Rising from Switzerland and passing through South Eastern France finally finding it’s way into the Mediterranean Sea.
The diversity of the wine in Rhone Valley is due to a special geographical constellation. In the Northern Rhone Valley the vines are planted mainly on the terraces of steep granite slopes, a markedly cooler continental climate prevails than that in the South with its broad alluvial and sandy plains, where it can be very hot in the summer and remains pleasantly mild in winter these climatic differences are the reasons the North produces many single variety wines. Whereas in the South cuvees dominate.
