Grape – Chardonnay

What is it?

Chardonnay is a white grape variety originally from Burgundy in Eastern France. Now its grows all around the world, it’s style varies greatly depending on where its grown, in cool regions offer green fruit (ex. apple,pear) with citrus notes, in moderate regions the taste is similar to white stone fruits (ex. peach) with citrus notes, in hot regions the taste becomes more familiar to tropical fruit tones.

Notes:

Chardonnay provides the best example of how well wood and white wine can work together, a very high proportion of Chardonnay sold today has been made under the influence of oak in some way , when fermented in oak, the lees dead yeast add a creamy texture. Chardonnay wines tend to be quite full bodied,with a weighty,creamy texture.
