What is it?

Merlot is a black grape variety, originally from Bordeaux, this grape produces a milder wine with lighter tannins and acidity than a Cabernet Sauvignon. Although generally a more rounded wine with higher levels of alcohol.

Merlot is the most planted grape throughout Bordeeaux, the grape is most preminent in the “right bank” of Bordeaux, in the Pomerol and Saint-Emilion.
Merlot is also celebrated outside of Bordeaux, in California, Chile and South Africa, becausse of it’s relatively low tannins and acidity.
